Glamping, a combination of “glamorous” and “camping,” offers a unique way to experience the great outdoors while enjoying modern comforts. In this article, we’ll explore the best options for glamping near Yellowstone.
What Is Glamping?
Glamping is a form of camping that combines the comforts of home (often nicer than home in my case!) with the natural beauty of the outdoors. Glamping accommodations can range from luxury tents and tipis to cabins and treehouses.
Many glamping sites offer amenities such as comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and even hot tubs. Glamping is perfect for those who want to enjoy nature without sacrificing comfort.
Best Time for Yellowstone Glamping
The best time to go glamping in Yellowstone is during the summer months, from June to August. This is when the weather is warm and dry, and the park is at its busiest. However, if you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting in the spring or fall. Just be aware that most glamping sites close during the off-season.
Is There Glamping in Yellowstone?
There are a few glamping-type options within the borders of Yellowstone National Park, but most of the most luxurious places are just beyond the park’s boundary. While I focus on glamping near Gardiner (North Entrance) and West Yellowstone (West Entrance), I will also share a little about glamping inside Yellowstone and mention one place in Cody, Wyoming that is sort of glamping.

North Yellowstone Glamping or West Yellowstone Glamping?
Yellowstone National Park has five entrance gates, but two of the most popular are the North Entrance in Montana and the West Entrance in Montana. When it comes to glamping, there are great options near both entrances.
If you stay near the North Entrance around Gardiner, Montana, you will have easier access to Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Falls, and the Lamar Valley, plus Gardiner, the Paradise Valley, and Livingston. For adventure sports, food, and arts and culture, the North Entrance is the place to be. It’s also a great base camp for hiking in the Absaroka or Gallatin Mountain Ranges.
Glamping near the West Entrance is more central for reaching parts of Yellowstone that include Old Faithful, Norris Geyser Basin, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and more. West Yellowstone has more touristy restaurants and souvenir shops than Gardiner.
Glamping Near North Entrance, Montana
If you’re looking to stay near the North Entrance, you have several options.
Pitch Yellowstone

Blackhawks Nest
This tiny house is perfect for travelers who need a place to lay their head or stargaze into the night sky. There is a microwave, tea kettle, mini fridge, and coffee making supplies, but no stove, oven, or hot plate.

Yellowstone Tipis
Yellowstone Tipis are just minutes from Yellowstone’s North Entrance and the closest glamping to Yellowstone.
Tipi guests have access to the dining room and lounge in the lodge, along with a great breakfast. The deck has a communal fire pit and views into Yellowstone.
Each tipi has a private bathroom in the bathhouse. One of the tipis and bathroom is ADA accessible.
What we like:

Under Canvas North Yellowstone is a newcomer to the North Yellowstone scene, but it’s kind of the chain store version of glamping as they have tent camps all over the place. So, they’ve got glamping down to a science.
This glamping site offers safari-style tents with comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Under Canvas Yellowstone also offers a variety of activities, including horseback riding, fly fishing, and guided tours of the park.
What we like:
- Riverfront property and mountain views
- S’mores and communal campfires available
- An à la carte, American or vegetarian breakfast is served at the property.

Scenic Yurt in Paradise Valley
If seclusion is what you are after, look no further than this 24′ yurt with a skylight dome, deck, and private yard. It is three miles up a maintained gravel road and 25 minutes (12 miles) from the North Entrance to Yellowstone.
The yurt sits on a nine-acre mountainside property next to the owners’ primary family residence.
There isn’t any cell service on the property.

Glamping West Yellowstone, Montana
If you prefer to stay near the West Entrance, there are several options. Note that Wander Camp, Tammah, and Starlight Retreat are in Island Park, Idaho, and thus a bit farther from Yellowstone’s West Entrance than Under Canvas (about 25 minutes from Island Park vs. 10 minutes from Under Canvas. There are a lot of fun things to do in Island Park and it makes a good basecamp.
Under Canvas West Yellowstone
Under Canvas Yellowstone is a luxury glamping resort located just outside of Yellowstone National Park. The resort offers a unique way to experience the great outdoors, without sacrificing comfort or convenience.

Tammah Yellowstone Glamping
Tammah Yellowstone Glamping is a great option for those who want to experience the beauty of the outdoors without sacrificing comfort. The tents and geodesic domes are spacious and well-appointed, with king-size beds, comfortable bedding, and private bathrooms. The property is also very clean and well-maintained.
The staff at Tammah are friendly and helpful, and they are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure guests have a great experience. They can provide recommendations for things to do in the area, and they can also help with things like bear spray and firewood.
The location of Tammah is also perfect for those who are visiting Yellowstone National Park. The park is about 20 minutes away and there are plenty of other things to do in the area, such as hiking, biking, and fishing.

Starlight Retreat Yellowstone Glamping
As of July 2023, Starlight Retreat is open, but still under some construction. The entry road is rough and the bathrooms aren’t quite finished. It looks to be a lovely setup, but make sure everything is in working order before you go!
Starlight Retreat Yellowstone is in Island Park, 25 minutes from Yellowstone’s West Entrance.

Glamping Near Cody, Wyoming
Cody is a charming western town located just outside the East Entrance of Yellowstone. Cody doesn’t have the same kind of glamping options as some of the other Yellowstone gateway towns, but there are a few places that offer comfortable glamping(ish) accommodations and easy access to the park. (The East Entrance to Yellowstone is about an hour’s drive west of Cody.)
Cody Trout Ranch Camp
Cody Trout Ranch Camp offers RV sites and tipis near Yellowstone. They also have a sheep wagon that’s all decked out for a romantic getaway. It is an RV park, so it’s not quite the luxury or “camp” feel you get from a traditional glamping setup.
What we like:
- Tipis located on the picturesque Shoshone River
- Fire pits
- 5 miles outside of Cody and quiet

Glamping in Yellowstone National Park
If you’re looking for the ultimate glamping experience, consider staying inside Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone has lodges and cabins throughout the park.
I don’t know if the cabins in Yellowstone are officially glamping, but they are fun and cozy, and allow guests to experience the beauty of the park right outside the door.
The cabins offer modern amenities, some have private bathrooms, and all have nearby restaurants or diners.

- Western Cabins at Canyon Lodge (at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone)
- Roosevelt Lodge and Cabins (At Roosevelt – Tower Junction)
- Lake Lodge Cabins (at Yellowstone Lake)
